Important planning limits

This is a capacity estimate, not a prediction of a specific backup product. Deduplication, database churn, block size, synthetic-full behavior, snapshots, and retention pruning can materially change real usage.

  • Measure the actual change rate after the first backup cycle.
  • Do not count RAID redundancy as backup retention.
  • Keep a separate copy outside the primary NAS or site.
